Top 5 Reasons I Need Cable

1 Adventure Time

I’ve been a fan of Adventure Time since 2005, when it was a short for Nickelodeon that featured Abe Lincoln on Mars. This was way before (eat it hipsters) the Cartoon Network smash we all know and love. When I found out that goofy little cartoon with a flying rainbow unicorn and mathematical slang was finally becoming a full-fledged cartoon I lost my mind. I raved about it to everyone, saying the greatest cartoon ever was finally coming to television. At the time nobody got it, and now everybody gets it. All the while I’ve continued to rave about this show and introduce friends to it, and they have introduced it to friends. So the fact that I’m no longer in the loop with all the awesome rhombusness has driven me bananas! I can’t imagine what all I’ve been missing out on, but I hear some things. And when I last left off Finn was pursuing the Flame Princess, he found a new sword… I could tell something cool was going to happen. If often does. Not to mention the last episode I saw was the one with the spiders that grossed me out enough to spaz off the couch. I gotta get that taste out of my mouth with some new episodes.

2 Legend of Korra

I hate to say that I completely missed the bandwagon when Avatar: The Last Airbender was on the air. And I really hate to say that I’m now missing out on Avatar: The Legend of Korra now that it’s on the air. I finally have a chance to jump on the bandwagon (since a live action movie never happened) and I can’t join in on all the fun. Except this time I want to and I have to plug my ears and eyes so nothing is spoiled. I already knew this show would resemble the well thought out and epically executed masterpiece of it’s predecessor. And from what I’m trying to avoid but inevitably gathering, the show is totally legend. But I guess that’s kind of a given.

3 Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Last episode of Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes I saw ended with a Skrull. Or some sort of teaser of Skrulls coming. I’m not sure. All I remember was my eyes getting wide and my brain going “ohmygodSkrullSecretInvasionCivilWarthisisawesome!” I have no idea what’s happening. I’m sure I already know what’s happening via the comics’ storyline, but I wanna see it played out! On this show! This show is great! And I stopped watching right before everything was about to go down!!

4

This is another animated series about a team of superheroes that I had to stop watching right before the reveal of a world-shattering evil plot and mega storylines going down. Why did I let this happen! With Young Justice, the team just got new members, a totally kickass battle with the JLA had just happened, and there was an allusion to the World’s Finest having done… something. In that episode I sat only on the edge of my seat, until the very end when I was back against the couch biting my nails. And that’s where I left off. I have to know what happened!

5

Game of Thrones is the one show that’s making me speed past blog reposts and the rest of the internet more than anything. Not only have I missed every episode of the second season, but I’m also still trying to get through the second book of A Song of Ice and Fire (I’m way behind on my reading, I know) in what little free time I have. So all spoilers are a double whammy. Still! I really want to know what all the stuff people are saying is about. And I certainly don’t want to know any more surprises the show has in store for me than I already do. I want to read the articles and appreciate it at it’s fullest. And I know if I had HBO at my fingertips, beckoning me to watch as it airs, I would be much more motivated to disregard every other responsibility I have and finish the book, watch the series, finish the series, and then get cracking on A Storm of Swords.

Honorable Mention

Technically I don’t need cable to enjoy Community, but I have no television broadcast hookup what so ever, so I’m missing out on it. Every other episode of this is the best episode ever, and from what I hear, the latter half of the third season is full of best-episode-evers. The 8-bit episode, the dramatic death of a character (already spoiled for me), and much much more. I can only imagine. Except I can’t, cuz this show is brilliant. Plus, I have to be there to actively support the show until it gets it’s sixth season and movie deal!

I have a really close friend, and whenever she would take me out we'd run into someone who I hadn't seen in a long time. Nine times out of ten they'd be surprised or really excited and come up to me saying "Oh my god, it's Kevin Allen! I haven't seen you in so long. Gimme a hug!" Well, I'm told I give great hugs and since I can't seem to go anywhere without running into someone I know, this phrase has become a thing with my friends.
Anyway, this is my blog.
